Daesan Plant
Daesan Plant located in Seosan, Chungcheongnamdo is the headquarters of Hyundai Oilbank. It features Oil Refining
Facilities with a daily capacity of 561,000 barrels and Heavy Oil Cracking Facilities (Upgrading Facilities) which is also
known as ‘Ground Oilfields’ in the 3.3M square meters of land. It presents the finest production unit including the BTX
Production Plant of Hyundai Cosmo, the MX (Mixed Xylene) Production Unit of Hyundai Chemical, the Lube Base Oil
Plant of Hyundai Shell Base Oil, and the Steel Chemical Plant of Hyundai OCI.
CDU - Crude Distillation Unit
It separates crude oil into all kinds of petroleum depending on the different boiling points to produce LPG, Naphtha, Kerosene, Diesel, Heavy oil in order.
VDU - Vacuum Distillation Unit
It is a distillation process that occurs under lower pressure as compared to normal pressure,. It produces LLVGO, VGO, VO in order from the top of the VDU Column.
HCR - Hydro Cracking Unit
It cracks VGO with lower value from VDU Column to produce Light Crude Oil of fine quality such as Kerosene, Diesel, LPG, Naphtha, etc.,
DCU - Delayed Coking Unit
It pyrolyzes Atmospheric Pressure Fuel Oil and VO at 490°C to produce Naphtha.
NHT - Naphtha Hydro Treating
It adds hydrogen to Naphtha produced in the CDU to remove impurities and converts it to Low-Sulfur Naphtha. Low-Sulfur Naphtha is either imported to PLT or used as mix material for various products.
KHT - Kerosene Hydro Treating
It adds hydrogen to Kerosene produced in the CDU to remove sulfur ingredients and converts it to Low-Sulfur Kerosene. Converted kerosene can be on sale such as kerosene for boilers.
GHT - Gasoil Hydro Treating
It adds hydrogen to diesel produced in the CDU and DCU to remove sulfur ingredients. Produced Low-Sulfur Kerosene can be used as mix material for all kinds of products.
PLT - Platforming
It converts Naphtha with Low-Octane produced in NHT and HCR into Reforming Naphtha rich in BTX ingredients. Reforming Naphtha can be used as mix material for gasoline or BTX petrochemical products.
ARDS - Atmospheric Residue Desulfurization
It converts High-Sulfur Atmosphere Petroleum Residuum with many impurities to Low-Sulfur Petroleum Residuum by adding hydrogen in high temperature and pressure. Low-Sulfur Petroleum Residuum is imported to Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking.
RFCC - Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking
It uses liquid catalyst to crack Low-Sulfur Petroleum Residuum desulfurized in the ARDS to produce gasoline, mixed butane and propylene.
LBO - Lube Base Oil Unit
It uses a catalyst to cause isomerase and hydro-reaction on Hydro Wax that is not converted to kerosene or diesel in the HCR to produce high-quality Lube Base Oil.
BTX, Benzene, Toluene, Xylene Unit
It converts Medium Reforming Naphtha produced in the RFCC into aromatic hydrocarbon using catalysis and adsorption.
